C76 Recommendations?

Postby Firestorm ZERO » August 15th, 2009, 4:01 pm

With comiketservice gone, it going to be more expensive to import doujinshi. Anyone got some suggestions for some great doujinshi from C76?

Lol! Yeah, I know toranoana will stock them and so will melonbooks, doujinshop, but I'm having a hard time finding the artists/circle I found on pireze's blog. :guru:

Most are there now. If you checked yesterday, then a lot of the listings weren't up yet. And of course, for some things there's only the auction option. What are you looking for?

I recommend Huke and Redjuice, both have a new book out, full color.

Ditto the topic - is there a list of great titles to pick up? (for that matter is there a list of what's available)

First, a disclaimer. I used to be much more "in the loop" when I was back in school but have since largely fallen out of the scene. That said, there is one particular blog I follow to keep on top of the doujin scene. As with ai-chan, I generally use icie's blog (http://www.pireze.org/) as a filter to keep on top of what's out there in terms of doujinshi and artbooks. Icie does artist watch posts in the days before each Comic Market that highlights a number of artists and circles of interest. Since the artists that I'm particularly fond of are all covered in those lists, I've always been more than satisfied by those watchlists alone and haven't needed to look elsewhere.

As for a list of what's available, there is always the Catalog itself, but I've been told that it's as thick as a phone book and released in Japanese only. Of course, I defer to those much more knowledgeable -- and much more in tune with the current scene -- about such matters.

So is toranoana an online shop or a brick & mortar? If it's online does anyone have a guide on how to use it (for us japanese illiterates :P)
