Your "Active" Series

Postby Slaigar » June 5th, 2008, 7:59 am

I place all my orders through Chapters.ca, so I can conveniently get my manga without leaving my house :ase2: . It made me think of manga as some sort of subscription service. Just place $200-300 worth of preorders and just wait for them to come in the mail over the course of the year. Well, that aside, what series does everyone regularly pick up?

DarkHorse:
Blade of the Immortal
EDEN: It's An Endless World
MPD Psycho
Oh My Goddess! (I hated the first volume, but after it stopped being a love story, I got hooked)
Non-DH stuff:
After School Nightmare
xxxHOLiC (I'm holding out on Tsubasa for awhile)

I might start some series off Yen Press. So far, I'm considering Shoulder-A-Coffin Kuro (got the first volume and it was pretty cool, also same artist as Yggdra's Union) and Sunshine Sketch (because I love Yuno so much!).

Only a small selection for me at the moment:

Berserk
Battle Royale
Airgear
Claymore

Airgear is quite a change for me and was recommended by local store, have to admit though I am enjoying it so far.

The only ones I have completed are My-Hime, Eureka Seven (comes together with the special edition DVD)
Currently collecting;

Air Gear
Claymore
Full Metal Alchemist
Getbackers
Hellsing

I got all my mangas from either Kinokuniya or Borders, grab quite a lot in last month due to both stores were having sales, pratically bought all the Getbackers manga during that time
Now thinking of getting Trinity Blood or maybe Full Metal Panic, what do you guys think, both series worth collecting ?

Slow is an understatement. ADV's manga department is almost non-existant. The titles take so long between releases that they might as well be canceled. My pessimistic guess is two more years before Yotsuba& Vol. 6 gets released (if ADV stays around for that long).

FMP =D. But I'm just not a fan of Trinity Blood.

Correct. FMP (manga) is the first season. FMP Sigma follows the End of Day by Days novel / Second Raid anime.

I haven't bothered with FMP Overload + FMP Surplus, but I also heard they weren't as good as the first manga adaptation.

Is FMP still published by ADV? I fear if ADV dropped it, the volume sizes will change and it'll look weird on my shelf.

If I not mistaken the first part of FMP manga already complete at 9 volumes, the second part is FMP: Sigma.
Btw recently I found out that there's gonna be a new Getbackers manga "GetBackers: Infinity Fortress", anyone know what this manga is all about.

Oh! My Goddess!

That's pretty much the only actual manga series that I have every release for, and know enough background on. On the American side, I do pick up an issue here and there when the story is interesting, but otherwise, Witchblade is the only one I'm following at the moment.
Plastic... cool, sterile, and oh so pretty!
