What to buy in South Korea?

Postby MrDisco » August 15th, 2009, 6:11 am

I've got a friend who will be going to South Korea for the month of November. He's offered to bring me back stuff, but I'm not sure what to ask for. Is there anything cool and unique in SK that I wouldn't be able to easily find in North America? All ideas, within reason, are welcome!

Well Jeong Juno (known for his works for Lineage II etc) put out a tutorital book with pretty pics...
but since it is a tutorial book, I doubt it'll be worth getting unless you know the language.

Apple Anthologies isn't that interesting to get since Udon is making English versions... Apple did put
out a "Apple Anthology X: Erotic with an Edge" which is an adult art book... which you wonder why the hell it's for adults...
It's more accurately dubbed "the artbook with boobs and boobs and more boobs" Since I'm not quite certain
if that'll make it to the US... might be something you wanna check out. Apple really needs to make an english website
soon.

Oh, if your friend can shop online, Hyung Min Woo (the author of Priest, Ghoshface, Doomslave etc)'s artbook published
in 2004 is a great book. The title is Justic and Mercy. You can probably find some images on google if you search something
like Hyung Min woo justice and mercy. It has a lot more images than the Tokyopop version, not to mention it comes
hand-signed. He also put out a series called Ghostface (I think only volume 1 is out at the moment). They are sold out
online but your friend might be able to find it offline. http://ghostface.co.kr/

Unless you are a girl, I don't think Korean accessories and clothing would interest you :P
