A New Home

Postby Susano » September 26th, 2009, 5:48 pm

Well all, my Hubby and I have finally found a house to purchase. We're signing all of the paperwork on the 30th and will be moving into the house in October. (We're hiring movers this time.) I'm not likely to be around at all (not that it will have changed much from the past couple months for me.) When get settled in, I will take pictures of stuff I've gotten over the past few months along with some shots of my anime cave and the library. :fbye:

Congrats on the new home!! Yes, it's always better to hire movers rather that DYI~ I just recently helped move my brother's stuff(almost everything including his 100+ figures and toys) and it was hell!
Hope everything gets there safely and would love to see the new place~

Congrats! :) To go to a new home is a great thing, please show us pics when you moved. I'm also moving to a new house next year, some of my collection is there already.

Well, I survived the move and so far, everything I've unpacked has gotten to the house undamaged. It's likely going to be a while before I take pictures since I am in serious need of more shelves before I can get everything set out. I only have the boxed anime set out on the shelves, and I have no idea how the heck I managed to get all of the anime on the two shelves, let alone the rest of the dvds. Our cat has adjusted really well to the house, and she has become obsessed with the basement. I'll try to post some pictures in the next couple of weeks when I have a chance to do so.

The downside of the move though was I pretty much lost a friend. He went psycho when we told him we were looking at houses a couple miles further north- accused me of manipulating my hubby and room mate into wanting to have our RPG night at our house (we own 90% of the game books) and accusing my Hubby of trying to kick him out of the game group. I don't know what the heck is going on in his mind, but I've not spoken with him since. (I work with him and am definitely keeping an eye out for a new job.)

Sometimes people act very strange. I think you should try and talk to him and explain why you needed a new house and that this has nothing to do with him.

Yeah. We attempted that. All the houses in our immediate area were short sales and foreclosures, so we had to look a little further out. We also didn't want to live in the city nearby; its a cesspool with high taxes and higher crime rate.

To be honest, I don't miss him. He's been very unpleasant to be around with a lot of anger issues and rude behavior. He needs to see a.doctor, but he won't. He's just been pushing all of his friends away, and we were some the last ones he had.

Some people just don't realize their own "personality" until they lose all their friends, I say good riddance to trouble like that.
Congrats, I just moved rooms so I multiple times and helped my bro move all his stuff out of his place he was living at so I sorta feel for you.

How do you like the new place Susano?

I'm really enjoying it. It is a little weird knowing I have a mortgage (and responsibilities) now, but it's been a lot of fun. We still need to get book shelves for the DVDs and our books, but a lot of the other stuff has been unpacked. Sadly, it's difficult finding book cases that are sturdy and do not bolt onto the wall. I've also been thinking on what to plant in my garden next year besides tomatoes and greens; I plan on taking over most of the south side of our lawn for that purpose.

We still need to have a chimney sweep come through to inspect our fireplace (we have a real wood burning one now), but everything else is working out pretty well. We've even done our first repair (had to replace the water stem to our shower) without incident. Heh, and today I'm enjoying my first blizzard; I hired a person to handle the plowing of our driveway since it's cheaper and easier to do that.

I haven't decided if it's harder to help someone move or to move yourself. Both have difficulties. Hopefully, your brother treated you to pizza or some other food for your trouble.

How about those tall slim DVD racks and tradition book shelves that sit on the ground(unless your place a carpetted)? Gotta admit, Ikea comes to mind whenever I need that stuff. Its kinda funny that you mentioned you have a fireplace because we do too though I think ours have been sealed off since we don't use it, it used to creep me out since it used to be drafty...

Grow the simple useful vegetables so that with a little bit of work, you've got something you can always pick and use. We got squash, tomatoes, grape vine, apple trees and pear trees around in the backyard. We really only pick the vegetables, grapes are kinda too ripe every season by my Japanese Neighbours love to come by and pick them while the apples and pears are usually infested with insects unfortunately.
