To anyone who has seen this doujin, how does it compare to Yellow Tag's other work? Is it a good release or so so?

Thanks

I don't have it but on the Yellow tag blog it said that Rondo would feature new and old work. I wasn't sure whether it was released because I didn't see it
on Yahoo Japan, there was a mailorder link on the Yellow tag blog. There's a
few images here: http://www.toranoana.jp/mailorder/artic ... 18895.html
if that helps.

What you see on Tora is as new as it gets w/content. I'm kind of bored w/Yellow Tag. He keeps releasing the same stuff over and over, or he just changes the color and background. It's also thin like Parhelia Flagment, and more expensive too.

Now, the posters were pretty nice. He released a 5 poster set at Comitia but I didn't go to Comitia this time. However, I do have the doujinshi.

Val,
Thanks, I kind of figured that Rondo would be similar to parhelia in content.
I probably won't by another Yellow tag until it's worth it. Were the posters
the same glyphgram/Bakuten material or something different? Maybe
by summer comiket there be another sketchbook/color work set like lith
and orbital.

He released a set of five A3 posters. The set included the same two posters (glyphgram & Bakuten) as last time, as well as 3 others. None of the posters had "new" art. :(

Last time, he released 2 posters at Comitia but he also took reservations by email in advance of the event. As a result, he didn't have enough stock for the people who went to buy it at the event.

I was a bit annoyed by that because he posted about it on his site and said he would be selling the posters at Comitia but instead, he pretty much serviced a pick up service for people who managed to reserve in advance. For the people who missed out last time, he released the same posters again, as well as 3 new posters. He also sold it as a set this time so you had to buy all 5 posters. I assume the set cost more than ¥1000 because the posters were 500 yen each (¥1000 for both posters) last time.

This Yahoo auction is the set:

I think Yellow Tag is losing popularity in Japan. Most of his doujinshi has dropped in value recently, and the drop is significant at more than 50%. Then again, his doujinshi were over-valued a few months ago, so the drop was expected but I didn't expect it to be a sudden drop with a significant change in value over night. I guess this is a good time to buy old Yellow Tag releases because they're affordable right now. Previously, his doujinshi held value because he didn't mass produce or also didn't put his doujin in stores. Now, he's over producing the same art, so the excitement is gone. He keeps releasing the same art under a different title, never keeps his word to fans, and keeps increasing the price of his doujinshi with each release.

Ugetsu also upset his fans when he showed up at Comitia a few months ago with the glyphgram & Bakuten posters already sold out to people who reserved by email. I know fans were also upset when he mass produced that box set for stores, after he specifically said it was a Comiket only "gift" from the circle and it would not be offered at any other event or at stores. It's just not good business to say an item is limited for Comiket if it's not true. At Comiket, most people have a priority list with the day mapped out. If something is limited, people make a point to hit a particular booth/table first. Otherwise, if an item will be sold in stores, many fans will pass at the event & buy it at a store later. There's so much to buy at Comiket and there are too many lines with most popular artists requiring 30-90 minutes in line. There's never enough time, so you have to prioritize your "buy" list in advance. I think both of these incidents may have backfired because there's a lot less excitement over Yellow Tag's doujinshi now. Just look at Yahoo and you'll see the significant price drop and lack of bids.

Yeah, I agree. Hopefully, he'll release another art book of color & monochrome works at Summer Comiket. I'd like to see a book that has more new works than repeat art. Perhaps, he should take a break for a couple Comitia events and put together a thick doujinshi of recent projects & designs for Comiket. To me, I'd rather buy 1-2 quality doujinshi a year than 4-5 doujinshi filled with one new color piece and the same old art in another size, color, or angle. It's like each doujinshi has become a variant of doujinshi released 2-3 years ago.

New work has been made for this new release:
http://page13.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/r33949389

I expect Ugetsu will release some new art after the DVD hits stores in March 2007.

New promos:
http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u9109760

(snip)

More from inside his new doujinshi. I just realized that much of the new art found in his new doujin features work he created for the upcoming OVA on DVD (Baku.Ten, Infinity):
http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f55410449
I guess it's not such a bad buy. We will post it for sale soon for $12.60.

This should help people decide on whether to buy the doujinshi.
On this page, you can see two consecutive pages in color, but those are the only pages like that (two consecutive pages of content):
http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f55410449

For the remainder of the doujinshi, the page on the right is plain gray paper. It's completely blank, so while there are 16 pages of content (20 counting each side of the cover), there are only 11 pages out of the 16 pages of content with actual content printed on the paper.

Page 1 is the cover.
Page 2 is the back of the front cover, and it's plain white.

Page 3 is the title page w/repeat art.
Page 4 is blank gray paper.
Page 5 is the secret page (it doesn't look new. I could be wrong)
Page 6 is blank gray paper.
Page 7 is the same illustration shown on the cover of Glyphgram, and it's shown on Tora's site.
Page 8 is blank gray paper.
Page 9 is shown here (the exact same page is shown as a pinup in the image):
http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u9109760
Pages 10-11 are shown on the Yahoo auction.
Pages 12 is blank gray paper.
Pages 13 is shown on Tora's site and here (cover of 2 poster booklets):
http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u9109760
Pages 14 is blank gray paper.
Page 15 is shown here (the exact same page is shown as a pinup in the image):
http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u9109760
Pages 16-17 are shown on the Yahoo auction. It's 60% text in Japanese.
Page 18 is Yellow Tag's information w/repeat art.
Page 19 is the white side of the back cover.
Page 20 is the back cover which has a faded symbol & date.

Also, the paper quality is *really* nice this time. Hard, thick paper has been used, so the quality is more like a glossy brochure. It's not flimsy like Parhelia 1 & 2. I can't get over the blank pages... there's nothing on them, not even a symbol, word, pattern, etc. I guess it's better than filling up the book w/the exact same content as last time but still. I really hope he waits a few events before releasing another doujinshi.

Duh,

I just realized these are the doujin posters sold by Yellow Tag at the last comitia event:
http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m39301031
http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m39301013

This was released in 2006, so it can't be the posters from Comita:
http://page7.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/g53552353

This means, I have no idea what Yellow Tag released as far as posters at Comitia. I didn't attend.

Sorry for any confusion. I didn't really think about it earlier but the first posts were the Glyphgram & Bakuten posters. There's a new set w/those 2 plus 3 others. Wonder what it looks like.

Hello all,

Just saw this image in an ad. Thought I would share it, since I know there are others like me who collect images of their favorite artists (like religiously getting the free monthly Shirow images from the Seishinsa website).

Hopefully Val will be able to open her store soon so we can all get the new Ugetsu doujinshi. No pressure Val! Take your time to set it up the way you want it. You know I'm pretty patient.

This image looks like the same girl on the Hondo cover. However, this is the cover of some novel called Black White and Red. Not positive though.

Not the best image by Ugetsu, but at least it's new as far as I know.

Sorry about the crease but my 3 y/o got a hold of it before I was able to put it in the scanner.
