RM's Throw Line available for iphone & itouch

Postby asgard » May 8th, 2009, 3:55 am

Thought this may interest some of our American members (if you don't know already!)

This is one of the few reasons I wished I lived in the US :P

Talk about random...

I mean ya you reach a mainstream audience... but some of us don't use iTunes... it's a strange medium to be promoting on itunes as well.
It's not like music, or even video.

I don't think it will be much of a success but who knows?

Considering how a lot of youngsters out there injest their media through such tools, it does make sense in a marketing sense. Get them hooked on your product in a medium that initially suits THEM, and if they like it enough, THEY will go searching for you.

I just hope they make stuff like this more accessible to other countries.

Call me old fashioned, but this type of distribution doesn't appeal to me. Definitely for the younger crowd or people who don't mind these things.

You ARE old :P

*runs and hides*

It doesn't appeal to me either, but then neither of us are in the targetted generation.
Then again, IF I had an iPhone (read, could afford one let alone afford the data charges) I probably would get it anyway, cause I'm a geek and want to enjoy my favourite artists whenever and however I can.

It doesn't help that I'm more of a [insert other brand] guy either. So even if I was of the inclination to buy someting like this I still wouldn't touch an iphone.

I don't know...I quite like the physical copy I have of it....looking at the pictures on a small screen with colors that probably are no perfect doesn't seem all that great.

And I AM young :) .....well, 19.

I don't know...

I don't even think young users = iwhatever users. I'm young but I'm not a follower of mac.
you say HIPSTER crowd and maybe we have something there.
Still... I don't see it faring very well with its target audience.

Manga artists or not, I still won't fork over the cash from an iproduct.

The market is there :)
You only have to look at the number of developers who basically make a living off the purchase and download of mobile apps they make.

I think the Yoshitoshi Abe doujin can be purchased from the iTunes store itself without needing an iPhone. I'll have to double check since I still need to order it (and maybe get it onto my crackberry.) The price was pretty decent as well, so I don't find it that bad to purchase. As to the one by Murata, it's only $1.99. That's a pretty damned good price for something of that media type. In all honesty, items like this may save the US comic industry if implemented correctly. They're only just starting with this type of distribution, but it has potential just like the new Kindle.

I personally wouldn't mind it much if the product was substantially cheaper and in decent quality. It would certainly help me save space. So long as companies don't cock the concept up like WOTC did with their digital copies of game books only being around five dollars cheaper, I'd be happy with this sort of distribution. Heh, and I'm really not part of the techno hip croud. I just like stuff that saves me space and money.

Edit:
-Scratch that, you need and iPod Touch or iPhone for the Abe one too. It's too bad since I'd love to get the two, but I went for a Blackberry Storm rather than deal with AT&T's crappy service in my area.

I don't know Susano...The whole experience of sitting down with a physical book and looking at the art is just not the same as sitting in front of a laptop, desktop, or other portable. Also, I like having my shelf full of art books. :S
