2008-12-16 - Year End Monies

Hey gang. The end of the year is coming so it time to tally up the monies earned from the "sponsors" above and use it for the community. Thanks again to the people who use them

Unfortunately, I lost my tracking paper I can "guess"-timate it but instead I will just top it up to an even $100 . The slowest to pay by the way is Rightstuf because their "system" doesn't have stats and I received only one cheque to my knowledge :/.

Last year, I donated all of it to the Red Cross when BennyFuentes mentioned the flood in Mexico. So I will leave it up to you guys what to do decide for this year.

Ideas
- if we are going to donate to a charity, I suggest to donate one that you can relate to (a family/friend that is affected).
- Contests
- Add it to the pot for next year

Well, I rather prefer the idea of donating it myself. Most nonprofit organizations could really use any extra money this year with the world economy being the way it is now. I'm not certain which charity would be better, but I can imagine ones like the International Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders could put it to really good use.

I looked at the Red Cross Canada website and good to see you can set where you want to send the money. There is an "international disaster relief" option so I am thinking of that one.

That sounds good to me. I know the local Red Cross chapter did a lot over the summer when we got hit by the bad flooding and they've done of whole lot around the world. They would probably be a good one to donate to.

Yeah, the Red Cross sounds like a good organization where the money will actually be used to help people and not as much for administrative things or a cause that will never happen.
